Senior Compliance Officer

Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY:
Leads and directs the compliance functions for charter.  Serves as regulatory liaison for all regulatory compliance issues.  Maintains thorough compliance knowledge and anticipates the impact of compliance issues for charter.  Develops and implements efficient and effective compliance policies and procedures for charter by researching, monitoring, and evaluating state and federal laws and regulations affecting the banking industry.  
Coordinates the satisfactory adherence to compliance policy in the following functional areas:  1) lending, 2) deposit, 3) trust services, and 4) non-deposit sales.  
 
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
  1. Develops and implements the compliance policy and related procedures to ensure compliance operational requirements are met in a satisfactory manner, and compliance risk is controlled.  Leads and directs the compliance program at the charter level.
  2. Designs and oversees compliance education programs for staff as well as charter employees and documents attendance of all training.
  3. Participates in developing products, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance requirements are met.  
  4. Develops and implements a review schedule in conjunction with 3rd party vendors designed to monitor compliance with Pinnacle Bank compliance policies and procedures and regulatory requirements.  Maintains a schedule of compliance reviews for branch, operational, and virtual banking activity that reflects appropriate scope and frequency.
  5. Reports to Board of Directors on success of controls in the policies, programs, and procedures including Compliance Policy, Fair Lending Policy, FCRA Program, SAFE Policy, Credit Card Policy, and the Pinnacle Privacy Policy.  
  6. Proactively assesses and manages compliance issues in a manner that minimizes customer service impact.
  7. Advises senior management of developments in laws, regulations, and exam trends.
  8. Coordinates state and federal consumer compliance exams, prepares responses to exam reports, and reports to management and the Board.
  9. Maintains and submits all regulatory compliance reports in a timely manner.
  10. Directs and manages the implementation of technological solutions for compliance issues, when warranted.
  11. Serves as the primary and initial regulatory contact for all compliance issues. Provides information and guidance to other charters on compliance issues.
  12. Establishes solid working relationships with regulatory agencies.
  13. Routinely works with independent consultants and senior management.
  14. Regular and reliable attendance.
  15. Performs other duties as assigned by management.
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of all bank compliance laws/regulations and the update/adherence of laws and regulations as changes occur.
  • Knowledge of bank operations.
  • Knowledge of lending functions.
  • Ability to interpret laws and regulations as they relate to lending.
  • Ability to travel, as the job requires, to various banks for the completion of assigned responsibilities.
  • Ability to effectively interact with co-workers and bank personnel.
  • Ability to maintain a valid driver’s license and dependable vehicle for commuting to various banks.
  • Strong communication skills: oral, written, and listening.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
 
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Four-year college degree and either Compliance Certification or advanced degree.
  • 5-10 years of managing a bank compliance program preferred.
  • Supervisory experience preferred

PHYSICAL DIMENSIONS:
Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negotiable amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.  Job involves sitting most of the time and if walking and standing is required, only occasionally.
